Our History

Penn Yan Flying Club (PYFC) was established in 1939 and incorporated in December 1940. We believe it is the second oldest flying club East of the Mississippi. During World War II guards were posted at the airport in the event of insurrection or invasion. Over the years the club gradually built a public use airport of 110 acres and has grown steadily to a membership of nearly 200 today. In 1992 the Club sold 100 acres of the airport to Yates County to serve as the foundation for the present airport. The Club retained 10 acres for its use.
